When it comes to quality and freshness, eggs and milk are both vulnerable to changes in temperature. And that's the problem with storing them on the fridge door: temperatures there are warmer and tend to fluctuate more than other areas of the refrigerator, especially when the door is opened.
The solution: keep eggs and milk in the main compartment of the refrigerator, where temperatures are colder and more stable.
Stored in their original carton, eggs will maintain best quality for about 3 to 5 weeks. During that time, the "sell-by" or “expiration” date on the carton may come and go. But your eggs will still be perfectly safe to use, provided they’re not cracked or otherwise damaged.
Milk that has been continuously refrigerated in the main compartment of the fridge will usually remain drinkable for about one week after the "sell by" date on the package.
