Store in cool, dry area and keep tightly sealed after opening.
To prevent sugar from hardening once opened, cover original package with a heavy-duty plastic bag and seal.
To moisten brown sugar that has hardened, place a cut piece of apple in the package with the sugar, reseal and leave overnight; if sugar is needed immediately, wrap sugar with foil or plastic wrap and pound with a hammer.
